TWO Big Weekend Wins For Johan “Toxjq” Quick
Free Player Toxjq Takes Another Quake 4 Win at WSVG Toronto and
Is Awarded “Best FPS Duel Player of The Year” by eSports Award
(Calabasas, CA) –Johnathan “Fatal1ty” Wendel and the Free Players Organization (FPO) congratulates Johan “toxjq” Quick on his hard fought win at the World Series of Video Games’ Toronto tournament in the Quake 4 competition and for his recognition by eSports Award as Best FPS Duel Player of The Year.
The 23 year old FPO member defeated American player Tim “DaHanG” Fogarty in the Grand Finals. Fogarty emerged as winner of the Lower Bracket and needed to defeat Quick twice to snatch the title from toxjq’s grasp. After losing the first match 2-0 toxjq rebounded to take the second match 2-1 and pocket the $5,200 top prize. Toxjq has now won his last 3 competitions to go along with his 2nd place showing at the the WSVG’s first ’07 Quake 4 event at Louisville, Kentucky in June. He extended the his Tour lead to 2900 points.
Toxjq’s participation in the Toronto competition prevented his appearance at the eSports Award ceremony, held in conjunction with Games Convention in Leipzig, Germany. Johnathan “Fatal1ty” Wendel accepted the award on toxjq’s behalf by saying, “Toxjq is a great player who played really well last year in the World Series of Video Games. A great competitor.”
“Yes, that was an exciting weekend,” recalled Johan Quick. “The WSVG Tournament was very competitive and I was happy that I could win the event without feeling that I was in my best shape. I wish I could have attended the eSports Award ceremony, but I am very grateful to them for honoring me in this way.”
About Johan “toxjq” Quick
Johan ”toxjq” Quick is a legendary name in Quake competitions. He played his first PC game, Quake 1, when he was 10 years old and is now regarded as one of the world’s top professional video gamers. Toxjq is also regarded as the best TeamDeathmatch player in Quake3 and Quake 4.
During 2006 toxjq dominated the entire competitive season in Quake 4 by winning a sensational 8 of the 10 events he entered. He compiled a remarkable record during the World Series of Video Games by winning all six tour stops, including the WSVG World Finals in New York City. Toxjq has captured first place in 2 of 3 WSVG tournaments this year and recently won the Quad-Damage tournament at Quakecon 2007, which required competing in all four games of the Quake series, and furthering his reputation as the world’s best overall Quake player.

Johnathan became the world’s first full time professional video gamer in 1999 after accepting an invitation to represent the USA at an international tournament in Stockholm, where he went undefeated with a perfect performance, winning all 18 maps.
