JOHNATHAN “FATAL1TY” WENDEL RETURNS FROM
FATAL1TY50 SHOOTOUT AND ACON4 FINALS IN ASIA
(SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, CA)—Auravision, a pioneer computer peripherals developer, today announces that the first ever Fatal1ty Shootout (www.fatal1tyshootout.com) in Asia received a tremendous turnout. The street corner was packed with cheering fans waiting to catch a glimpse of American gaming star, Johnathan “Fatal1ty” Wendel. Passersby in their cars slowed down, trying to see what all the noise and commotion was all about. The sounds of chainguns firing and rocket blasts rocked Taipei’s Warner Village, where the hip and trendy youth of Taiwan go to be seen. At the end of the day nobody walked away with the NT$100,000, but many lucky contestants were still able to take home free motherboards and prizes provided by ABIT.
After Taiwan, Fatal1ty joined the ACON4 Global Gaming Tournament in Shanghai where he spoke to gamers and media during the opening and closing ceremonies. “I’m here to support my fellow gamers and to show them that you can make a career out of gaming. Everyone at the event today is helping to make this a reality.“ Fatal1ty also announced the launch of his line of ABIT – Fatal1ty motherboards and graphics cards. The gamers responded with an uproar or cheers and applause to the news.
After the event Fatal1ty toured ABIT’s China factory and helped provide input into the making of his new line of ABIT – Fatal1ty motherboards. “It was a blast working one on one with the ABIT engineers because they have a passion for making the highest performing motherboards. With the ABIT – Fatal1ty line there are no limits. I tell them what I need from the hardware and they make it happen. This Fall, everyone will be able to experience it.”
The next Fatal1ty Shootout is planned for CES in January 2005. Fans that can’t wait that long to see Fatal1ty can watch him compete in Paris at the ESWC 2004 Painkiller Masters Cup (www.esworldcup.com) on July 8th and later on in Texas at CPL’s The Cyberathlete® Extreme World Championships (www.thecpl.com) on July 28 to August 1.
About Johnathan “Fatal1ty” Wendel
Johnathan first got involved in tournaments when he heard about a CPL’s Frag3 Tournament that took place in October 1999. He won third there and was invited to represent the USA in Stockholm two weeks later where he won undefeated, winning all 18 maps against the top players in the world. He continued to dominate competitions all over the world, including in Singapore, St. Louis, Los Angeles, New York, Dallas, Korea, Germany, Australia, Holland and Brazil, to name just a few.
At QuakeCon 2002, he faced off against his rival ZeRo4 in one of the most highly anticipated matches of the year and ended up winning the match in a 14-(-1) flawless victory. He went on to place third overall in the event and fourth at the World Cyber Games USA a few months later. To top it all off, he won CPL Pentium 4 Winter Champions in December for Unreal Tournament 2003, a victory which netted the CPL Champion of the Year for the third year in a row—and each year for victories in a different game.
